Speculating on a high street
In the case of Texas Hold’em after the flop a made hand (such as a triple) is usually better than a “drawing hand” – a hand that needs improvement to win – (for example, if you with four Tickets are speculating on a road). In Omaha, this is not the case, since there are so many ways to make a really good hand. In such drawing hands, you can set a lot.
If you think for example 10-9-6-5 in the hand and the flop comes K-8-7, there are 20 cards on the turn or river that you could form a straight: four fours, three fives, three sixes, three nines, three tens and four boys.
With HA-PK-H10-P9 and a flop with HD-P3-HB 22, there would be cards that you could form a road or a flush. In addition there are 16 cards that you could form a straight: four eights, three nines, three tens, three kings and three aces. The nine remaining hearts, you could make a flush, three of which were nevertheless counted as you can put together with you in a street: H8, H9 and HK.
In both cases you have the same or better chances than a player who holds the flop of a kind.
Starting hands with reusable cards
With four cards a lot more combinations are possible than with two. Since all four cards can be combined with any of the other three cards, an Omaha hand is not the same as two Texas-leaves, but as six. Watch out for in Omaha on leaves, in which you can use your four cards on several occasions.
