Rules of Omaha (Hi/Low)

Here we are going to describe the rules of Omaha Poker and Omaha hi / lo poker, which is a variant of the more practiced version of no-limit hold’em.
Generally Omaha Poker is played in classic mode, the highest hand winning the pot. However the way Hi-Lo is also very popular version in which players with the highest and lowest hand split the pot.

The rules of Omaha Poker prches are those of Texas Hold’em Poker.
The main differences are:

  • 4 cards are dealt to each player (and there are always 4 community cards)
  • Poker players can combine that 2 cards in hand with the 3 community cards

After initial distribution of cards, the towers are the same as Texas Hold’em Poker with a flop, a turn and a River.
In the rules of Omaha Poker Classic player with the best 5 card postpones the pot. Mode Hi-Lo, the highest and lowest hand split the pot.

An important rule is added to the Omaha Hi-Lo Poker: A player can not play for the pot Low (weaker hand) that if any of his cards is greater than 8. (This prevents a player trying to win the Hi Low won the only by coincidence). Also note that the suites and the colors are not taken into account for the Low.
